My Black Hole

Jennie Thwing

May 9-July 20, 2014
Pittsburgh Center for the Arts

Jennie Thwing’s video installation,“My Black Hole,” is an animated portrait of the evolution of her studio practice, highlighting the dichotomy of the artist's joy and sadness after completing a body of work. It takes place inside a constructed room over four weeks and was created as a model for an upcoming film series titled “The Living Room.” Thwing, a New York-based artist and filmmaker, is originally from Johnstown, PA.

My Black Hole is part of an ongoing collaboration – which began in 2008 – between PCA and Center for Emerging Visual Artists (CFEVA). This exchange of exhibits provides a larger context and more exposure for regional artists, and it strengthens the artistic dialogue between Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.
