Pittsburgh Center for the Arts Collaborates with Ward Home for Photo Exhibit

(Pittsburgh, PA) – In collaboration with Ward Home, Pittsburgh Filmmakers/Pittsburgh Center for the Arts (PF/PCA) announces Picture This! a juried photo show, on view from January 14 – 21, 2012. A gala fundraiser is being held at Center for the Arts in Shadyside on closing night, Saturday, January 21, from 6:00 – 9:00pm.

Tickets are $75. All of the proceeds from the event will help Ward Home, the area's premier provider of independent living programs helping at-risk teenagers. RSVP (no later than Jan. 9) by contacting Corie Turner at 412-722-1404 x236 or cturner@wardhome.org

The show features approximately 40 examples of work by Ward Home youth who were taught by PF/PCA instructors this past fall. There are about a dozen photos by professional Pittsburgh photographers as well. All the work in this exhibit will be available for purchase during the gala event. A portion of the sales benefit the Ward Home.

The juror for the show is Linda Benedict-Jones. She is currently Curator of Photography, Carnegie Museum of Art, and the former Executive Director of Silver Eye Center for Photography. Prior to moving to Pittsburgh she was Curator of the Polaroid Collection in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Each year, Ward Home teaches and counsels approximately 150 teen moms, teen girls and teen boys in critical life-skills. They prepare them for employment, the armed forces, and/or higher education. For more information about Ward Home's mission visit: www.wardhome.org
