Expanded Scholarship Program for Summer Art Camps

PCA has just announced expanded funding – and an extended deadline – of scholarships for children’s Summer Art Camps. This has been made possible from the proceeds of a very generous gift from the Cinderella Ball, the oldest charity event in Pittsburgh.

“This year, in light of the grim economic climate, we decided to extend the Financial Aid application deadline that was originally set at mid-May in an effort to reach a greater number of families who might otherwise see the financial burden of paying for a camp as too great,” says Laura Domencic, director of PCA.

The new deadline for submitting applications for aid is June 22, 2009.

Scholarship awards cover up to 80% of the camp fee. A family's contribution for a week-long, half-day camp can be as low as $30. A family may apply for one award per household member.  For example, a family with two children may apply for aid for one class or camp, for each child over the summer. Financial aid awards are based on family income.

For information about the art camps that are offered, download a financial aid form or call the registration office at 412-361-0455.

Favorite Comedies

This Summer
The staff at PF/PCA agreed what we all need is a summer of fun – real laugh-out loud comedies. After much discussion of favorites, the list was narrowed to 13 titles, all-American comedies made between 1934 and 1999.
