The Photography Intensive, which begins Fall 2014, is an eight-month accelerated program that develops the creative talents of aspiring photographers. This professional program involves full immersion in all aspects of photography as well as an introduction to video production. The focus of the program is to prepare students for a successful career in the field. Through numerous individual assignments and group studio projects students will cover all aspects of photography from the creative beginning to the technical end product. Upon completion, students will receive a diploma and will leave with a portfolio of their own creative work. A public exhibition of graduates’ advanced work will be held each spring.

At no additional cost, all students completing the program are eligible for an optional apprenticeship program that includes referrals for internships and paid production opportunities, interview and portfolio coaching, networking events, and a one-year, full-access membership to Pittsburgh Filmmakers. In addition, graduates will have the opportunity to enroll in a limited number of ongoing classes at Pittsburgh Filmmakers’ School of Film, Photography, and Digital Media for up to two years.

Information packets, including a student handbook and application form, are available from the Registrar. There is a nonrefundable application fee of $40. Pittsburgh Filmmakers’ School of Film, Photography and Digital Media is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD). The Photography Intensive has been licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
