Film Aesthetics

Taught from the director’s perspective, this course considers the myriad decisions that contribute to the look and feel of a movie. Key aspects such as set design, costuming, lighting, composition, makeup, character placement and film stock or video format will be considered. Students will demonstrate an understanding of concepts with written analysis and hands-on video exercises. Grading is based on written analyses and participation in hands-on exercises. In addition to tuition, a $35 course fee is charged.
