Pittsburgh Filmmakers has been located at 477 Melwood Ave since 1995. This facility, consisting of 38,000 square feet on three floors, serves the School and administration, our Artist Members and includes exhibition space for film, photography and other media arts. The first floor provides easy access to classroom space, production equipment offices, photographic darkrooms and lab spaces, film and video post-production suites, our library, a digital classroom and a separate digital lab.

The Equipment Office at Pittsburgh Filmmakers is fully stocked with a variety of filmmaking and photography equipment:

Exhibition Spaces

There are seven exhibition spaces available in the facility: a 132- seat screening room; a 61-seat screening room; two photo galleries with a combined space of over 150 linear feet; a three-monitor video wall located near the equipment offices; and 200 linear feet of hallway on the first and second floors dedicated to student photographic work.

Classroom Space

The facility houses 14 classrooms. Of these, three are digital classrooms, one is a theater specially outfitted for class use and one is a small soundstage/lighting studio. A central projection booth services two adjacent classrooms on the first floor. Two second-floor classrooms each open upon two different video post-production suites for convenient in-class demonstrations.
