PF SCHOOL: Full-Time Film/Video Faculty Position

Pittsburgh Filmmakers’ School of Film, Photography and Digital Media is seeking a full-time faculty member to teach classes and to perform administrative duties as part of its undergraduate-level educational programs. This faculty member will teach seven class sections per academic year within two different film/video programs. Primary teaching responsibilities will be part of our two-semester professional training program, The Filmmaking Intensive. Additional teaching duties will be within our longstanding film and video program that emphasizes a fine art approach.

Applicants must have a track record of working in the filmmaking field, preferably with significant experience working in features, commercials, corporate video or other aspects of the industry. A broad knowledge of production is essential, while specialization in some, but not all, areas (such as camerawork, editing, lighting, sound, producing, screenwriting) of production will mesh well with the curriculum of our new program. An M.F.A. is preferred but not required. Experience teaching entry-level production is important, since the successful applicant will be called upon to do so.

Administrative duties for this position include recruiting, interviewing and advising students, participating with the Director of Education and other faculty members in curriculum development and working on special educational projects from time to time.

Benefits include health coverage, Pittsburgh Filmmakers full-access membership and season passes to all programs at Pittsburgh Filmmakers' three theaters. Pittsburgh Filmmakers is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD). Pittsburgh Filmmakers is one of the country's oldest and most prominent media arts centers. Its educational program has a long history, providing classes in film, video, photography and digital media to students enrolled in ten western Pennsylvania colleges and universities. In addition, independent students enroll directly in Pittsburgh Filmmakers' School of Film, Video and Photography, both on a "for-credit" and on a "non-credit" basis.
