A Mind of Winter

Meghan Olson

Pittsburgh Center for the Arts
February 27, 2014 to April 20, 2014

Comprised of sculptural pieces installed on the floor and wall of the gallery, Olson employs phenomena and processes found in nature (gravity, pressure, expansion, saturation) to materials such as paper, styrofoam, wood, glass, metal. She says she is interested in the simple transformations of seemingly uneventful materials and processes that can reveal themselves as poetic. Olson, who recently exhibited her work at UnSmoke in Braddock, PA, received her BS in History from Portland State University and is currently an MFA candidate at West Virginia University.
