Spanning is a new body of sculptural works exploring the personal proximities implied by radio transmissions. Merging wood, textiles, and sound elements, the pieces reference familiarity and utility while skewing from logical functionality.  They use hand tools, domestic fabrics, building materials, reclaimed lumber, mirrors, string, paint, and transistor radios.  The mixed media pieces both transmit and receive recordings of environmental sounds and social noise, circumscribing a hyper-specific field of communication within the walls of the gallery.
