Summer Art Camps
For over 30 years, Pittsburgh Center for the Arts has offered a safe, fun and enriching experience for thousands of students through our Summer Art Camps. With one and two-week options for ages 4 – 13, students can enjoy either a half-day or full-day camp or even combine two half-days to create a full-day, which includes supervised lunch and recess time. There are Summer Camp options in both studio and media arts, on-site at 1047 Shady Avenue. Families can also take advantage of extended care in the morning and afternoon to accommodate busy schedules.
Summer High School Immersion
Summer High School Immersions are designed for high school students, ages 14 – 18. In the Immersions, students delve into studio and media arts techniques, practices and mediums in intensive project-based programs. Highly trained and experienced teaching artists provide students with a college-like atmosphere in which to explore mediums like filmmaking, ceramics, painting, programming and creature design. Professional equipment and studios are utilized in both the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts and Pittsburgh Filmmakers locations to supplement and elevate the artmaking experience most high schools can offer.
Studio Arts Program
At PCA, students enjoy an elevated studio arts experience through their access to high quality equipment in our seven professional studios and contemporary galleries, which is utilized as a source of inspiration and inquiry. With an emphasis on interdisciplinary studies and collaboration, many of our camps combine visual arts with other creative mediums like performance, literature, architecture and science. A source of pride, our teaching artists are working professionals in creative fields and in addition to leading our students in enriching art experiences, are contributing to our communities as exhibiting artists and educators in museums, traditional schools and colleges.
