School & Community Programs at PF/PCA organizes and facilitates creative arts experiences in a variety of diverse settings that occur off of our Shadyside campus. These include the Arts in Education Partnership Artist Residencies, as well as Community Festivals in the Pittsburgh region, Professional Development workshops for educators, Career Days at local schools and more.

Our programs and projects are designed to have lasting benefits for all participants: students are fully immersed in an art form and see how it connects to life and learning, teachers are exposed to alternative ways of experiencing and sharing the creative process and what it brings to their classrooms, administrators realize the ways in which the arts fully engage students and impact their learning across the curriculum, artists experience growth in their artforms and value the ability to inform and inspire future generations and community members participating in creative processes.

Recently, we had a wonderful group of 16 Educators and Teaching Artists participate in a hands-on professional development workshop "Teaching the Arts to Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder". We drummed, we painted, we collaged and, in the process, we learned different strategies on how to engage students with autism using art.
