Leslie Ansley

As a painter, muralist, and educator, Leslie Ansley has practiced her passion for art nearly 20 years. She interprets the emotional significance of human stories through painting, sculpture and mixed media.

Her work has shown in notable museums, galleries and art festivals around the United States. Several of these exhibitions were alongside the work of world-renowned artists Elizabeth Catlett, and Romare Bearden. Locally, she creates public art for nonprofit organizations, schools, businesses and communities.

As a teaching artist, Leslie has worked with hundreds of students ages 5 through adult. This allows her to develop art curriculum that addresses the needs and challenges unique each school or organization.  Supporting social studies and history curriculums, her residencies present a different perspective on modern life experiences and find parallels within the broader context of history and time. This encourages students to value themselves and recognize their impact on the world.

Ms. Ansley's talents have been showcased in the local press, on talk shows, and on news programs. She was also featured on the PBS Documentary, "It's the Neighborhoods."
