Overview

Our goal is to foster an artistic community where creativity and self-expression flourish. Our approach to arts education and art making provides a balance between process and product. Our instructors emphasize the creative journey rather than just the final outcome. Student progress is measured in terms of personal artistic growth, the acquisition of new skills and the ability to think critically.

PCA serves adult students at every level, from the experienced artist to the novice. We offer workshops, short courses (2-5 sessions) and long courses (6-10 sessions). Our classes are divided into five levels: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Intermediate/Advanced and All.

Level: Beginner
These classes cover the basics of a medium or process and introduce students to a variety of approaches and techniques. When students finish they are able to make an informed decision about how to advance forward.

Level: Intermediate
For students who are comfortable with the basics, and feel ready to work more independently, expanding on their personal style.

Level: Advanced
For students who have a strong personal style and feel very comfortable with a medium. Most advanced students have several years of experience.

Level: Intermediate/Advanced
These classes are appropriate for both intermediate and advanced students.

Level: All
Beginner, intermediate and advanced students are mixed together. Students receive individual instruction and participate in group lessons at their discretion. These classes provide a relaxed atmosphere in which students are able to learn at their own pace, and students learn from each other by exchanging ideas and techniques.
