This three-session fiber workshop is inspired by artist Rose Clancy’s installations The GardenLab@510 and Yardage at The Mattress Factory Museum. Rose encapsulated over 100 dangerous, rusty objects in strips of pristine white fabric in her installation The GardenLab@510, which were exposed to the elements for six months. As a result of the process, abstract marks transformed the fabric and was reinstalled as the piece Yardage. In class, students will work individually and collaboratively, to build a sculptural framework that will house their collective bundles in an outdoor setting for exposure to the natural elements of moisture, sun, and freezing.
