Pittsburgh Society of Artistswww.pittsburghsocietyofartists.org 412-734-1120 Pittsburgh Society of Artists consists of more than 250 Pittsburgh and Southwestern Pennsylvania artists whose work represents all two and three-dimensional media. Since 1967, as a member guild of the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, Pittsburgh Society of Artists has been dedicated to the vitality and growth of the visual arts in the Pittsburgh area. For more than 30 years the organization has been dedicated to encouraging and supporting art in all its forms. PSA's aim is to foster both public awareness and artistic excellence by providing its members with opportunities to exhibit their work throughout the region. The basic goals have always remained the same: to nurture artistic growth through friendly competition and to stimulate creative thinking through ongoing public dialogue. To become a member of PSA, individuals must be 18 years of age and live within 150
miles of Pittsburgh, and submit three original artworks for screening by the Board of Directors.
Screenings are held in the spring and fall of each year. Exhibitions:The first show of the season will be “Small Art Works” held at Borelli-Edwards Gallery from April 10th to April 24th. The exhibit will display works which are no larger than 14 inches in dimension. Also this year, the PSA will feature the exhibit, “Urban Dreams” at Fein Art Gallery from June 4th to July 9th. This exhibit calls upon artists to express the hopes and fears of globalization as it relates to our own urban environments. Juried by Kathleen Zimbikicki Opening Reception – Friday June 4, 5:00 to 8:00 PM Society of Contemporary Craft will host the PSA exhibit, “Shelter” from October 1 to December 5th at their satellite gallery, One Mellon Center. Art incorporating both recycled and contemporary craft mediums which exemplify the emotional, psychological or spiritual need for shelter will be showcased. The year will finish out with the “PSA Annual Members Exhibition” held at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh from December 6th to January 2011.
