Material Translations: Pinch, Slab, Coil : Judit Varga, Laurel Lukaszewski, and Elizabeth Kendall
presented by the National Council on Educaton for the Ceramic Arys Conference

On view four days only, during the annual NCECA conference being held in Pittsburgh, March 19 – 22:

Three sculptors, Judit Varga, Laurel Lukaszewski, and Elizabeth Kendall re-interpret traditional hand building techniques of pinch, coil and slab. The high fired unglazed stoneware and porcelain constructions occupy a variety of environments whether on the wall, on the floor or suspended in space. In building multifaceted compositions that suggest landscape and architecture, the artists explore rhythm and movement, line and volume. They create and invite conversations through comparison of process and juxtaposition of diverse yet complimentary forms.
