The Filmmaking Intensive is an eight-month accelerated program that develops the creative talents of aspiring filmmakers. This professional program involves full immersion in all aspects of film and video production and prepares the student for a career in the industry. Students support each other’s work by serving as crew members while gaining valuable experience by working in a variety of roles. Upon completion, students will receive a diploma and will leave with a portfolio of their own creative work. A public screening of graduates’ advanced work will be held each Spring.

At no additional cost, all students completing the program are eligible for an optional apprenticeship program that includes referrals for internships and paid production opportunities, interview and portfolio coaching, networking events, and a one-year, full-access membership to Pittsburgh Filmmakers. In addition, graduates will have the opportunity to enroll in a limited number of ongoing classes at Pittsburgh Filmmakers’ School of Film, Photography, and Digital Media for up to two years.

There is a nonrefundable application fee of $40. Information packets, including a Handbook and Application Form, are available from the Registrar.

Pittsburgh Filmmakers’ School of Film, Photography and Digital Media is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD). The Filmmaking Intensive has been licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
