The Mission
The Brew House Association's mission is to provide artists with the support necessary to foster
invention, creation, collaboration, and encourage creative risk-taking in the ruthless pursuit of artistic
excellence.

The Brew House
The Brew House Association operates within the original Duquesne Brewing facility founded in 1899.
The first floor houses an exhibition space featuring a 25-foot ceiling and street-front windows. This
gallery is fully restored and ideal for both traditional and non-traditional artistic applications. In its
fairly raw condition the Brew House offers professional exhibitions amidst the gritty and inspiring
ambience of post-industrial Pittsburgh.

Call for Proposals 2013
The Brew House is currently accepting applications for its 2013 Featured Artist Exhibition Series,
offering three solo exhibitions to regional artists. Selected artists will be invited to present their work
in the form of a solo or group exhibition, installation and/or community project. All formats of artistic
expression are encouraged.

Information: Interested artists can apply for one of three exhibitions beginning in May of 2013.
Preference will be given to those who are flexible with their desired exhibition period.
The Brew House will provide:
• Opening reception – Food and Drink
• Promotion – Facebook, post cards, Brew House Listserve, Local listings etc.
Artists responsibilities:
• Install / De-install - Return of gallery to original condition. (i.e. fill holes, paint etc.)
Materials provided by Brew House
• Design postcard (4in. x 6in.) and email to the Brew House for approval and printing.
• Host one public event in the gallery (i.e. workshop, lecture etc.) for which the artists will
receive a $200.00 honorarium.

Deadline to apply – March 1st. Notification of acceptance by March 15th.
Exhibition #1 – May 10 – June 16, 2013
Exhibition #2 – September 21 – October 26, 2013
Exhibition #3 – November 2 – December 14, 2013
Applications: All applications are reviewed by the Exhibition Committee; composed of arts
professionals and current Brew House residents. Submissions will be judged on the expression
of concept, quality of work and your proposal.

Sales: The Brew House receives 25% commission on all sales.

Submission Requirements
Please Send Us:
-Resume / CV (collaborators should submit individual resumes / CVs)
-Artist Statement (250 words max)
-Project Proposal (2 page max)
-No more than 20 images of related works (Max 2400 pixels in any direction – titled
LastName_Image#.jpeg, example: Kaulen_Birds1.jpeg)
-Corresponding Image list, including: Title, Media, Year, Dimensions
-Video submission: 5 minute maximum. Formats accepted - mpeg or avi

Project Proposal
Include the following information:
• Describe the work to be exhibited.
• Explain how the proposed show fits the Brew House mission
• Stipulate preferred exhibition period - 1, 2, 3 or No Preference.
