BETWIXT and BETWEEN – Liminal Objects

Jeanne Jaffe

Pittsburgh Center for the Arts

Jeanne Jaffe's exhibit, “BETWIXT and BETWEEN – Liminal Objects” is comprised of sculptural objects and prints exploring liminal states where meaning and identity are in flux. Body fragments, vegetative processes and microscopic life fuse, mutate, and morph.  In the liminal state of betwixt and between, Jaffe says, identities become malleable, enabling the creation of new experience and possibilities. Jaffe received her BFA from Tyler School of Art. She has exhibited both nationally and internationally, including The Royal Scottish Academy of Edinburgh, Scotland; the Mino Washi Museum, Japan; the Delaware Art Museum; and Michener Art Museum in Bucks County, PA.

She's also been reviewed in many publications, including Art in America, The New York Times, and Sculpture Magazine.

BETWIXT and BETWEEN is part of an ongoing collaboration – which began in 2008 – between PCA and Center for Emerging Visual Artists (CFEVA). This exchange of exhibits provides a larger context and more exposure for regional artists, and it strengthens the artistic dialogue between Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.
