The Craftsmen's Guild of Pittsburgh sponsors exhibitions, educational events, social events, and scholarships to promote fine crafts in the Western Pennsylvania region. Craftsmen's Guild members, numbering around 150, work in a wide variety of media, including clay, fiber, glass, leather, metal, stone, wood, and mixed media. They produce both functional and nonfunctional work with an emphasis on artistic expression.
The Guild provides networking opportunities for artists. Members support each other through consultation and mentoring. Some members have formed buying cooperatives to decrease the cost of supplies. In addition, the Guild produces "A Fair in the Park" annually on the weekend after Labor Day.
The Craftsmen's Guild screens for new members twice a year, in March and October, at Pittsburgh Center for the Arts. For more information, visit the Guild's Web site.
